Arguably the single most important car statistic to determine a cars performance is the power to weight ratio. This car spec is simply computed by dividing the vehicles horsepower by its curb weight. Generally cars with higher horsepower to weight figures will accelerate quicker than ones with lower numbers. Vehicles with the best power to weight ratios typically boast both high horsepower as well as relatively low weight. Power to weight ratio statistics are considered to be more of a finite stat compared to car quarter mile or 0-60 times that have a range of acceptable figures due to numerous elements that can slightly skew the results during testing. Often times the weight of the vehicles is overlooked by the sexier horsepower stats.
